In February 2008, I entered the Blogosphere when I set up an account on WordPress and created the Blog now known as “Cydonia Mensae” (back then, for a month or two, it was known as “The Finish Line”). On that Blog, I’ve written 108 posts, gotten about 197 comments (most of them “ping-backs”) and received nearly 16,000 hits (all as of 31st May 2010). The irony behind it all is that I never expected such a reception- I honestly believed when I first started that I would write one or two posts and slip back into obscurity…how things turn out…I’m by no means saying that I’m mega-popular (definitely not) but that I was (and am) taken aback by the success of my Blog (albeit minor success).
For quite a few weeks, I had in my mind the desire to write less tasking posts. I did think of just using “Cydonia Mensae” but then decided against it- the reason being that “Cydonia Mensae” holds a special place in my heart (to use the cheesy phrase!)- in my mind, there are many posts on that Blog which deal with difficult and personal issues- to have used it for anything else would have been a great injustice to it- hence, the creation of this Blog.
In all honesty (although I may have to be careful what I say!), I don’t know whether or not this Blog will be a success (of course, I would love it to be received well, but if it isn’t that’s fine). This Blog is still in its infancy but hopefully it’ll grow into something to be proud of…(apparently I’m far too modest…)
Yours truly,
James.
